What is the E.I.T.C.?

How do I apply?

The Earned Income Tac Credit is a special credit for lower income workers to reduce their federal income tax.  Those who qualify will owe less in taxes and may be eligible for a bigger refund.  Even if you don't owe any income tax, you may still be eligible for EITC if you worked during 2008.  The average EITC return is $1,900 per working family or individual.  In Newport News last year, an estimated $10 million went unclaimed because those who were eligible did not file for EITC.

In most cases all you have to do to apply is file you income tax return - Form 1040 or 1040A - according to the instructions.

But the BEST way to find out is to call for more information.
